Set up Office apps and email on a mobile device. I found this tip buried in the Microsoft threads, the OP wanted to know how to install office to a different drive. I had searched a bunch of threads and tons of programs were offered to do the job of 'moving' the files.
-->Starting in October 2017, we've changed how the previous OneDrive for Business sync app installs for enterprise customers using Microsoft 365 Apps for enterprise or Office 2016 with Click-to-Run.
- The previous sync app (Groove.exe) will no longer be installed by default with Office 2016 Click-to-Run. If your organization provides an Office deployment configuration file to Setup.exe, you'll need to update your file to exclude Groove from the install.
- When not in use or running, the previous sync app (Groove.exe) will be uninstalled, unless: (a) Groove is already configured to sync one or more SharePoint or SharePoint Server libraries or (b) a 'PreventUninstall' registry key is present on the computer.
These changes won't affect customers who are already using the new OneDrive sync app (OneDrive.exe) to sync OneDrive and SharePoint files. Neither will these changes affect enterprises who have deployed Office with the traditional Windows Installer-based (MSI) method.
Note
The new OneDrive sync app (OneDrive.exe) is the recommended option for Microsoft 365 and SharePoint Server 2019+ customers. However, the previous sync app (Groove.exe) is still fully supported and is used for on-premises instances of OneDrive or SharePoint Server. Which version of OneDrive am I using?
Ensuring Groove.exe is no longer installed
When these changes roll out, the previous sync app (Groove.exe) will no longer be installed by default when a user installs Office 2016 via Click-to-Run. If your organization provides an Office deployment configuration file to Setup.exe, you'll need to update your file to exclude Groove from the install.
To exclude Groove in your deployment, add this to your config file:
For more info about configuration options, see Configuration options for the Office 2016 Deployment Tool.
To override the default behavior and make sure the previous OneDrive for Business sync app installs and stays installed, you must provide a config file that doesn't exclude Groove.exe. Also, you must set the 'PreventUninstall' registry key on all computers where you need Groove.exe installed, so that the process doesn't uninstall Groove.exe.
Uninstalling Groove when not in use
On Office upgrade, the installer runs on each computer to detect whether Groove.exe is currently in use or the 'PreventUninstall' registry key is set. If either Groove.exe is in use or the registry key is set, Groove.exe is left in place. Otherwise, if Groove.exe isn't in use and the registry key isn't set, Groove.exe gets uninstalled automatically on that computer.

Who these changes affect and when
These changes will affect organizations who have deployed the previous OneDrive for Business sync app to sync on-premises SharePoint libraries, or libraries that have Information Rights Management enabled on them.
The following table shows more detail about which Office installations are affected by these changes and when. All these changes are Office client-level changes rolled out across clients, and are not turned on organization by organization.

Unless you need Groove.exe for some of your scenarios (for example, syncing on-premises SharePoint files), we strongly recommend leaving the new defaults in place and excluding Groove.exe from Office 2016 installations.

Microsoft does not recommend installing multiple versions of anyOffice product, but it is generally possible to install and use morethan one version of Office on a single Windows computer. For example, you can install and use both Office 2003 and Office 2007 on the samecomputer.
Warning: Office suites downloaded from IUware areincompatible with other installed versions of Office. The IUware-installedversion will continually ask for an activation key.
Before deciding to install multiple versions of Microsoft Office, makesure your hard drive has enough available space. This is especiallyimportant for the initial installation of Office 2000, for whichUITS recommends a minimum 900MB of free drivespace. The completed installation will not be this large, but theinitial temporary files copied to the hard drive during theinstallation require large amounts of free drive space.
Order of installation
If you want to install and use more than one version of Office on thesame computer, you must install the earliest version first. Forexample, if you want to use both Office 2003 and Office 2007 on the samecomputer, you must install Office 2003 first. This step is necessarybecause of the way registry keys, shared programs, fileextensions, and other settings are managed for each version of Office, and for the programs that are included with each version. The order ofinstallation for different versions of Office follows:
- Office 95
- Office 97
- Office 2000
- Office XP
- Office 2003
- Office 2007
Installing Office XP
By default, Office XP will install over any previous version ofMicrosoft Office. Drivers jr programmer v2 install. To keep a previous version of Microsoft Office:
- Change the installation location for Office XP to something otherthan the default selection. For example, it is easy to change thelocation to:If you don't change the location, the installation of Microsoft OfficeXP will overwrite files from previous versions.
- When the installation program offers to remove earlier versions ofOffice, check Keep these programs to prevent their deletion;however, if you forgot to change the installation directory, yourearlier Office programs will be deleted no matter what you do.
Multiple versions of Outlook
Microsoft Outlook 2000, 2002, 2003, and 2007 cannot coexistwith any previous versions of Outlook. All previous versions ofOutlook will be removed during the installation process of Office2000, XP, 2003, or 2007 even if during Office setup, in the

Install Office 365 On A Different Drive
- Microsoft Clip Art Gallery and Microsoft Graph will not runcorrectly when installed on a computer system running an older versionof Microsoft Office. Because of the way the registry entries areused, UITS does not recommend that you install multiple versions ofthese programs.
- Because the Office 2000 shortcut bar uses Windows Installershortcuts, it cannot use the existing toolbars or buttons from earlierversions of the Office shortcut bar.
- Office 95, 97, and 2000 all use the same shortcuts under theStart menu to start programs. Office 2000 will overwritethese shortcuts during installation. If you rename the Office 95 or 97shortcuts before you install Office 2000, you can use the shortcutsfor both sets of programs on the Start menu; however, thiswill require large amounts of available RAM to handleopening all of these programs at one time. Plan on 16MB of RAM perapplication launched on startup, beyond what is initially used byWindows 95, 98, and NT.
